Parental Partnerships

The curriculum for excellence is responsible for the setting the foundations for learning for all children people in Scotland from ages 3 to 18. This curriculum is divided into 4 capacities which enables the children to become successful learners, a responsible citizen, a confident individual and an effective contributor. Education Scotland (2010). The curriculum works in partnership with parents as it emphasis the key role in which parents play within their child���s learning. The parental involvement Act (2006) aims to support parents, carers and schools work in partnership as for children���s learning. The act allows parents to gain courage to express their views and opinions on their child���s education. Scottish Government (2015)
Pre Birth to Three is a national document which sets out guidelines supports anyone who works within early years. It contains information on pre-birth development and it mirrors the values and attitude which reinforces the Early Years Framework, Curriculum for Excellence and Building the Ambition. Parent���s partnership for Pre Birth to Three includes the understanding of the individual needs for every child, and the constant changing needs for children and their families. The Early Years Foundation Framework Sets principles for the educational growth and care of all children from birth to five years. The framework supports a combined approach to early learning and care. It gives all professionals a set of shared Values to distribute excellence primary education and childcare experiences to all young children. Also, when thinking about parental involvement the framework supports and helps parent���s assurance that no matter where they select their child to attend their early education, they can be assured that the same legal obligations and values will support their child���s learning and holistic growth. Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) is important for anyone who works with children and young people, it also goes for anyone who works with children outside a setting. Practitioners must work together to support families, and if an issue is raised take early action at the first signs of any difficulty. The Standard for childhood practice document makes sure that all practitioners have the same expectations within their profession. The document founds a culture to indorse positive, non-discriminatory and comprehensive relationships with and among each child and family. It also promotes a high superiority service for each child and family. The Standard for childhood practice offers a service that replicates clear and mutual values and respect for individuals. Child at the Centre 2 document safeguards that the child remains at the centre and even more emphasis is put on confident outcomes for all children. Getting it right from the start is vital when thinking about long-term outcomes. High value pre-school provision gives children a confident start in life and has a strong effect on children���s future success. All early year Practitioners play a key role in providing high quality learning experiences for children. This document reflects the changing setting for early year���s education, including curriculum alterations in Curriculum for Excellence, the emphasis on transition from preschool education to early primary. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children, wherever possible this encouraging their children���s development and learning. Parental participation is planned allowing staff working alongside parents. The child at the Centre (2007) who knows what will happen when the Child at the Centre 3 document is put in place.
