Because of speedy growth in the electronics field and the need for fast and easy connect between the computer and its related peripherals and electronic devices, USB has been used. USB is the result of joint development between various companies. It has been designed to create channels of communication of little and medium speeds, the goal of which is to replace Serial Ports and Parallel Ports of the computer, and are designed to be relatively faster and easier to install and cheaper to use application and give comfort in operation and freedom in versatility in the type and in the number of devices, these days the biggest challenge in developing USB is to reach a higher rate in data transmission , so it has been developed to which it called the Super Speed plus USB. It is standard for wired connection between two electronic devices (with maximum speed of 10 Gbps). In This paper, we discuss the Architecture of Super Speed (USB 3.0) and Super Speed plus (USB 3.1), Data Transfer method, and Power Management.

I. INTRODUCTION

USB technology that has been placed at the head of innovation in the computer world. At the beginning the target was for the innovation of USB the need for a Plug and Play connector that will enable to connect many peripherals with the computer and Get rid of the different ports on the PC as well as simplify dealing with the external devices without the need to identify with the operating system. But now the USB turned to another way where it is now used in the connect of the electronic devices with each other and not just with PCs, also it is becoming a solution for the charging problem, because One of main advantages is the new protocol, which allows increasing the electrical efficiency. So its fix the problem with the devices which do not charge via the USB port due to not having enough power from the host device.

Previously, the USB transfer rate gave a speed was considered good enough at that time, USB 1.0 declared in Jan 1996 with rates of 1.5 Mbit/s (Low-Bandwidth) and 12 Mbit/s (Full Bandwidth), USB 1.1 declared in Sep 1998. Earliest revision to be widely embraced. Initially, USB offered two speeds (12 MB/s and 1.5 MB/s) that peripherals could use. As PCs became more and more powerful and able to process bigger amounts of data, users needed to get more and more data into and out of their PCs.

This led to the development of the USB 2.0 (called Hi-Speed USB) in 2000 to provide a third transfer rate of 480 MB/s. The USB 2.0 was a revolution in data transfer speed when it was released in the past , The USB 2.0 speed of up to 480 Mbps, a speed is a quite fast if you compare it with the time that have been invited, but with the developments of portable devices like PCs and smart phones and large capacities that have become exist where some of them now up to larger than 1 TB capacities , thus the massive amount of data that will be a slowly be transferred even if the speed is 480 Mbps, the big amount of data that transfer today through the USB, has made data transfer speed in USB 2.0 looks slow and take more time during transfer large number of gigabytes.

So the next generation of USB (Super speed USB) doubles that rate ten times, The progress attained in the super speed USB (USB 3.0) compared to USB 2.0 is much larger than the progress attained in the USB 2.0 by comparing it with USB 1.0, the development of basic and progress in super speed USB is the great speed, and the largest feature retaining backward compatibility. With models preceded by USB 2.0 and USB 1.0, thus no problem in using it never, transition to super speed USB will give you a more in performance and data transfer speed without thinking about the compatibility with any devices.

It’s moved a lot in speed rate limit to 5 Gbps, it’s number became the new age revolution in the transfer of information, we are talking about 5 Gbps, probably will not be able to observe the process of transferring data while you work on PC or your mobile, 5 Gbps second, nearly 10 times faster than USB 2. Today, the goal still the same.. Just faster, with the continued development for more bandwidth led by larger and faster storage solutions, higher resolution video, and the other use of USB as an external expansion solution, super speed plus USB (USB 3.1) extends the performance range of USB up to 1GB/s by doubling the Super Speed USB clock rate to 10 Gbps and enhancing data encoding efficiency.

USB 3.0 was an innovative step for USB, USB 3.1 is the next innovative step to increase the bandwidth.
